Beaded Christmas Decorations

Jade Stapleton, PeekyMe

It's a great time of year to get a little crafty and have fun making your own decorations and gifts. This one is great for the kids to try, they look fabulous hanging from the tree or throughout the house, it's a perfect activity to enhance fine motor skills having to thread the beads onto the pipecleaners. You can pick up a variety of beads at Spotlight or Kmart.....of if you subscribe to PeekyMe you'll find this project in our December Festive box with all the materials you need!

What you need:

Pipecleaners

Assorted beads

String

How you do it:

  1. If you want to make the star decoration, you'll need to gather 3 pipecleaners and twist them in the middle to group them together. You can trim the ends later depending on whether you want the stars to be large or small. If you're making the heart, you'll only need 1 pipecleaner. Start by folding one end of the pipecleaner over to stop the beads sliding off.
  2. Thread the beads onto the stems mixing up the colours and shapes.
  3. When you finish adding the beads to the star, curl the pipecleaner ends over to hold them in place. For the heart, twist the 2 ends together and bend the pipecleaner to resemble the shape of a heart.
  4. Tie a piece of string to the star/heart and hang your dazzling decoration on the tree to sparkle and shine!
